Whether you’re an experienced geocacher or new to this fun sport, you’re invited to wind your way through the countryside picking up “treasure” to add to your bounty. Travel by vehicle and on foot to some of the most beloved spots in Roanoke County using a handheld GPS to guide your way. This Free event will begin and end at Green Ridge Recreation Center. The event will run from 11 AM until 3 PM. At 10 AM a social hour begins for both experienced geocachers and beginners to mix and mingle. Registration will run from 11 AM until the start of the treasure hunt. A limited number of GPS units will be available to those who do not bring their own and a $150 deposit will be required for their use. Deposit can be either a personal check or cash and will be returned upon the safe return of the GPS unit.
Scenic sites within Roanoke County will be the destinations for this fourth annual treasure hunt. Longitudes and latitudes will be given and you will have from 11 AM until 3 PM to complete the treasure hunt. We strongly suggest there be two people per car, (at least one navigator). All participants must return to Green Ridge Recreation Center by 3 PM for a final tallying of scores and prizes.
